Forza Horizon 5 has surged to the top of multiple PlayStation Store sales charts, driven solely by pre-orders. This strong early demand indicates that the former Xbox-exclusive title is poised for significant success on the PS5.
Playground Games, the developer behind the popular racing franchise, officially announced the PS5 version of Forza Horizon 5 in late January 2025. Just a month later, the studio confirmed the game’s PlayStation launch date: April 29.
With the pre-order phase kicking off immediately after the announcement, Forza Horizon 5 quickly climbed the PS Store rankings. According to Push Square, the Premium Edition of the game is currently the top pre-ordered PlayStation title in the UK, while the Standard Edition holds the third spot. In the US, two out of three available editions have secured positions within the top five most pre-ordered PS5 games, while in Canada, the game dominates the first two spots.

Set in Mexico, Forza Horizon 5 has also gained significant traction in the country that inspired its setting. Both the Standard and Premium Editions are currently the two most pre-ordered titles on the Mexican PS Store. Further south, the game has taken the number one spot in Argentina, Brazil, and Chile, while ranking fifth in Peru.
Forza Horizon 5 Dominates European Pre-Orders
Beyond the UK, the game is leading PS Store pre-order charts across Europe. Countries such as Germany, France, Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, and the Netherlands have all seen Forza Horizon 5 rise to the top. Likewise, the title is performing exceptionally well in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Greece, Croatia, Poland, and the Czech Republic. In many of these regions, multiple editions of the game are among the top five most pre-ordered titles, highlighting strong European enthusiasm for the PlayStation release.
Forza Horizon 5 is also generating considerable interest in Australia and New Zealand, where it leads PS Store pre-orders. Even in Japan—historically a challenging market for Xbox exclusives—the Premium Edition ranks fifth among PS5 pre-orders, with the Standard Edition sitting at ninth.
This impressive pre-launch performance signals a major win for Microsoft’s cross-platform strategy. Forza Horizon 5’s strong reception on PlayStation could even surpass the success of Sea of Thieves, which remains Microsoft’s most popular PlayStation port outside of Call of Duty. Looking ahead, more Xbox titles, including Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, are expected to arrive on Sony’s current-generation console in the near future.
